If you’re building in the country, with no access to mains gas, you will have to give careful consideration how best to fuel your self-build. Perhaps you’ve looked at renewable technologies but are concerned about their long-term reliability or upfront costs?

Now, with Calor BioLPG (a new form of liquefied petroleum gas), it just got a lot easier to ‘go green.’

What’s more, with the Government recently announcing its new Clean Growth Strategy – which encourages those living off-grid to consider the environmental impact of their fuel choice – you may be weighing up cleaner, lower carbon fuels to future-proof your home energy.

Traditionally oil heating has been one of the most common forms of rural heating. However, its carbon footprint is higher than alternative energy sources such as LPG or renewables. In addition, oil is often targeted by thieves and you may like to look at more secure ways of heating your home.

Many rural self-builders without access to mains gas opt for LPG to fuel their project as it provides all the benefits of gas for heating, hot water and cooking.

BioLPG from Calor takes these benefits one step further. It is identical to standard LPG but is created from a mix of renewable and sustainably sourced raw materials. This means that using BioLPG will reduce your carbon footprint for home heating by 38 per cent compared to heating oil

The other great benefit is that BioLPG has the same chemical composition as LPG, so it works with standard LPG systems, boilers and appliances, which are often more cost-effective to install than oil or renewable systems.

There is a range of storage options for BioLPG including an underground tank which enables you to maximise garden space and not spoil the aesthetics of your build.

Getting supplies of BioLPG is easy too as, just like its standard LPG delivery service, Calor will deliver BioLPG straight to your home when required.
