When it comes to choosing your flooring, material is an extremely important factor. Many materials like wood, stone or concrete will fade or change colour when used externally, meaning that you will eventually lose that matching indoor-outdoor look. Luckily there is a material that is unaffected by weather; porcelain goes through vitrification during the manufacturing process giving it an extremely low porosity rate, which makes it strong, frost proof, colourfast, fade proof and resistant to staining.
While all porcelain does possess these properties, there are certain features that are more suited to either outdoor or indoor use, but not both. Valverdi wanted to create flooring that would give the impression that it is matching, while still harnessing these key benefits. For example, their external tiles are 20mm thick, double the thickness of the internal variety, to cope with heavy garden furniture and changes in temperature.
The outdoor tiles are also finished with an R11-rated slip resistant surface, which would be considered too rough for indoor use, but is ideally suited to patios, terraces, pathways, steps and even swimming pool surrounds. Because porcelain is resistant to moss & mould growth, staining, scratching and fading, your outdoor space will look the same in ten or twenty years as it does when first installed.

To create different designs, materials such as wood and slate are photographed then digitally printed on the surface of the tile using the latest inkjet technology to create an ultra-realistic finish. This means that our favourite flooring can easily be replicated using porcelain, with all of the benefits listed above.
