Grand Designs returns for autumn 2025 series

Grand Designs is back! For those of you desperate for your next Kevin McCloud fix, waiting is no more as Grand Designs returned to our screens for the Autumn half of the 2025 series on Wednesday 1 October.

The spring edition of the 2025 series gave us plenty to talk about. From the floating house in Worthing and the modernised Bedfordshire barn, to the North London eco home, as well as revisits to the iconic hypoallergenic family home and ‘heartbreak’ house. All this means the Autumn 2025 series has a lot to live up to – but we’re thankful the ambitious projects will deliver.

What can we expect in the autumn 2025 series of Grand Designs?

The first episode of the new series, which aired on Wednesday October 1 on Channel 4 saw artist Sarah returning to her Durham roots. She had plans to build a single storey house with art studio and creative space out of hempcrete – a highly sustainable, yet futuristic material.

Next week’s episode is set to follow the same line, as another building is designed using a different unconventional material – but this time a young family buying a prefabricated home constructed from Welsh timber.

We’re also greatly anticipating the castle build of this season, by couple Piers and Emma, which is replacing a hotel perched on top of a hill.

This season is extra special as it begins the launch of the Grand Designs podcast – Grand Designs: Deconstructed.

Hosted by Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Greg James and Kevin McCloud himself, the visual podcast will be available each week after the show has aired at 10pm. It will be available to listen and watch on Spotify, Channel 4 Homes YouTube and More4.
