When it comes to celebrating the best of wood in construction, it should come as no surprise from just a glance that ‘House in a Garden’, created by Gianni Botsford Architects, was crowned as winner of the Structural Award prize at the Wood Awards 2019.
Read on to get to know this striking property, which has previously featured in Grand Designs Magazine and has been described by judge Nathan Wheatley as “an exceptional structural form of elegant and slender timber ribs, structural arrangement which is exciting, efficient and responds perfectly to the study of natural light.”

The striking glulam roof curves up into an occulus. Wood is used throughout the project – from the roof to the walls and floors, and a floating staircase leading from the basement spaces.
