Cladding is often associated with the exterior of a property, however don’t underestimate the power of interior cladding or panelling inside your home. Take a look at some impressive and inspiring examples below.

1. Timber framing

The rich grain pattern of this bespoke panelling creates a sense of intimacy in this cosy dining area. The timber framing has been designed to line up beautifully with the coffered-style ceiling. An experienced joiner would be able to create a similar installation as part of a retrofit.

2. Cork wall covering

Cork is a sustainable and moisture-resistant material with a range of uses. Composed of a thick cork-backing layer with a stone-effect veneer on top, this wallcovering is a natural sound-absorber, reducing noise pollution from room to room and within the same space.

Lend a walk-in shower an element of luxury by covering the walls with quartz slabs. These have a rough concrete finish, are non-porous, and heat-and-stain resistant. Include brass fittings and a timber floor for a spa-style opulence.

4. Solid oak planks

A central glass-walled atrium spans three floors in this house, designed by Studio David Thulstrup. In keeping with the leafy garden views, the corner pillars are clad in wide, solid-oak planks. They also provide a pleasing contrast with the industrial-style concrete floor and perforated black steel staircase.
