The Acoustic Academy
In 2020, Quiet Mark launched its Acoustics Academy, an online platform to equip and empower architects, builders, designers and home improvers with a guide to expertly-verified leading acoustic solutions for every building area.
The Acoustics Academy lists a wide range of products including ceilings, boilers, furniture, insulation, flooring, bathrooms, kitchen appliances and many more. Here, we take a quick look at a small selection of the many solutions found in the directory and how they can combine to help create more productive workspaces and a happier, healthier home.
Quiet heating: The Vaillant aroTHERM Plus Air Source Heat Pump
This heat pump combines efficient performance with industry leading sustainable credentials. Providing heating and hot water, the aroTHERM plus uses natural refrigerant and has a particularly low global warming potential.
Plus, with sound power as low as 54dB(A) the aroTHERM plus 3.5, 5, 7 and 12 kW outputs have been accredited with the Quiet Mark.
Acoustic ceilings: The BASWA Phon Acoustic Plaster System
BASWA acoustic are an innovative Swiss company who pioneered the world’s foremost acoustic plaster system, BASWA Phon. Known by leading architects worldwide for its high quality and discreet appearance, BASWA provides up to Class A sound absorption with a smooth, durable marble plaster finish. It’s available in a choice of textures and system thicknesses to tailor the sound absorption performance and may be tinted to any colour.
BASWA acoustic ceilings can be found in The Shard’s main reception, The Lanesborough Hotel and the Louvre, as well as in Grand Designs House of the Year 2017, Caring Wood.
Acoustic insulation: The ROCKWOOL Sound Insulation Slab
ROCKWOOL’s Sound Insulation Slab is ideal for use in residential buildings such as home offices, studies, bedrooms, bathrooms, media and gaming rooms.
It has been uniquely designed for use in internal and separating walls and floors, to reduce noise from adjacent properties and rooms within the same dwelling. The solution helps to create quiet, peaceful and comfortable spaces in your home.
Quiet kitchens: The Novy Panorama Power Vented Downdraft Induction Hob and Hood
The Novy Panorama Power is an induction hob with a downdraft extractor integrated within the hob itself. When not in use the ventilation tower is completely concealed and when activated it elevates to reveal an opaque glass extractor.
The Panorama Power efficiently extracts cooking vapours at source – directly behind the pans. The cooking zones are laid out in a panoramic configuration, thus providing the cook with flexible freedom of movement. By laterally positioning them side-by-side directly in front of the extractor ensures that aerodynamic flow is continually optimised, resulting in a positive effect on Panorama’s noise levels.
Quiet bathrooms: The GROHE Rapid SL Flush System
GROHE’s innovative water technology in its flush system delivers whisper® quiet acoustics, making this a perfect choice for en-suites.
Acoustic design: BuzziSpace BuzziMood Biophilic Acoustic Panels
Research shows that incorporating biophilic designs into your workspace can have significant benefits to your health and wellbeing, in addition to increasing productivity, creativity, concentration and cognitive ability.
BuzziSpace’s BuzziMood is the perfect biophilic alternative to conventional noise-control solutions. Its lush botanical appearance is designed from a mix of preserved reindeer moss and upholstered geometric shapes, which additionally helps to absorb sound to create a more relaxed and calm atmosphere.
