This year's theme: The Great British Box Room

After the success of last year's project, which asked designers to come up with clever ways to use space under the stairs, this year's brief is to come up with another small space wonder. The Great British Box Room Competition is looking for diverse, creative and clever concepts to transform the smallest rooms in our homes that are often left unused, forgotten or, worse still, as a dumping ground.

Whether your big idea for your box room is something a little out of the ordinary, or you've got a clever concept to make the most of the space, think interesting and unexpected, using colour, materials and patterns to push boundaries and achieve something impressive despite the small area you've got to work with.

How to enter

To enter, you need to come up with a digital moodboard that encapsulates your ideas, your theme and the visual style you imagine for the space. This needs to be submitted by the 10th January in order for your application to be considered.

From all entries, 6 finalists will be chosen to bring their entries to life for the Grand Designs Live show at ExCel London, which takes place between the 2nd-10th May.

The competition winner will be selected by judges including Kevin McCloud and Jenny Gibbs from the KLC School of Design, with the announcement taking place on the Grand Theatre during the event.
